There's been a couple if not more than a couple of cities and states that faced injustice in domestic violence. A state in example is Alaska and the natives who faced injustice. According to the article “ Domestic violence and sexual assault occur in staggering rates in Native communities across the United States.” Not only the other states inside the united states, places with native americans have a high risk in being inside the percentage of domestic violence, it’s sad to see how far domestic violence has spread to. There’s many more places that experienced domestic violence like the city of Oregon, Portland. According to the article about Oregon “20 deaths were related to intimate partner violence in 2007. 43% of female homicide victims were killed by an intimate partner in Oregon. 7” This website evens add on to this by stating “ In a 2004 survey of Oregon women ages 20 to 55 years old, nearly one-third (31%) reported that they had experienced one or more types of violence victimization - including threats of violence, physical assaults, sexual assaults or stalking. 7 “ These number are outrageous and it’s all happening in Oregon image getting the data of all women in a city being a part of domestic violence and those women's who were the victims.
The word of stopping domestic violence spreads fast, but their are a couple of activist groups standing out and spreading the word of domestic violence. One activist group that i myself have experienced is the Youth Guidance guiding kids to a bright future or as the males would like to call it BAM. According to the homepage of Youth Guidance “ Youth Guidance serves more than 8,000 students in Chicago’s schools. More than 95% of our students are African-American and Hispanic/Latino. Most reside in low income communities. “ Schools like the one i'm in social justice of greater lawndale. What BAM does is help the male students learn about adulthood from exercises, learning how to control anger, and respect for womanhood. When i was in it we learned how to rightfully respect a woman learning the good events and bad events of women, those bad events include domestic violence. Another statement from Youth Guidance homepage involves the six core values “ Respect for Womanhood: I learn how my words and actions devalue women, including those I love. I am more mindful and respectful in how I interact with women. I strive to be a self-liberator and not an oppressor.” I remember watching videos on how some men just disrespect women and how some guys in BAM wanted to stand up to this situation and put an end to it even though it’s was just a video. If anything guys in BAM try to learn as much as we can so we can respect the women that are around them, we could learn from the women in the other program called WOW.
