“ Not only will the severe cuts to critical domestic-violence, sexual-assault, and human-needs services devastate low-income victims and the providers that serve them and their families, but the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act also remains held up in Congress after its expiration more than a year ago.” Domestic violence is a political issue, where is all the cases of domestic violence is shown or seen in the court and or shown in the media. People fighting for their rights like women fighting for their voice against domestic violence. Another injustice is the fact that majority women receive their rights in court being the victim of domestic violence. Cases involving males receive less justice, being ignored by the media. This statement shows the political side of domestic violence where some cases are yet to cease meaning never stopping. |

Domestic violence is a serious social problem and a national health concern with significant negative impacts on individuals and our communities. It is a primary cause of injury to women in the United States, half of the women in the United States have suffered violence from their partner. Thirty percent of Americans say they know a woman who has been physically abused by her partner in the past year. Women are less likely than men to be victims of violent crimes, but they are five to eight times more likely to be victimized by an intimate partner. Some people believe that this abuse is a private matter which should be addressed within the family. However, domestic violence is a crime and families have a right to be protected against this crime. Not doing anything about the abuse usually gets worse and sometimes can cause serious injury or even death. The roots of domestic violence and other types of violent relationships are linked to power and control. Research has shown that people with abusive tendencies generally turn violent when they feel out of control. Talking with someone is the first and most crucial step in getting the help you deserve. There are people in your community willing and able to help you. Nobody deserves this abuse.
