The issue of domestic violence in my neighborhood is at a low minimum, i believe everyone in my neighborhood knows about domestic violence and how they are against it. In Chicago I believe that theirs is some reason that people believe in domestic violence more than they hate it. As stated in the article “Apna Ghar (Chicago, IL – North Side) Apna Ghar provides emergency shelter and transitional housing, along with a range of supportive services, to survivors of domestic abuse in the Chicago area. “ There is areas all around Chicago that help other people out who been through domestic violence, this statement even goes on to say it helps out by giving them a free service helping them out with each step at a time. There is about another 22 areas around Chicago that try their best to support those who been through domestic violence. Here is another area in YWCA Evanston/North shore
“The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity. At the YWCA Evanston/North Shore, we carry out this mission by providing a wide range of programs and services to meet the needs of the unique and diverse communities we serve, including: domestic violence services; flying fish aquatics; building healthy relationships, violence prevention programming for youth; young women’s leadership; economic empowerment; and racial justice initiatives.”
This YWCA has it all from just everyday relaxing to mend that broken spirit to teaching the youth about the bad things in violence, even to building a strong women with the knowledge and strength to stand on her own two feet. In my perspective seeing how Chicago has many people to lean on when having domestic violence trouble there's always a time for a person like you or me to at least spread the word or lend a hand.
