My research question is are men more prone to violence than women? It's important to study this question, so i can see if it's really true. My fire project topic is domestic violence and the research question i have relates to the topic. Through research in domestic violence i found out that women are the victims of it and the person that always cause this are men, so i was wondering what cause these men to react to these types of violence and if so is it the same way to females. The way i want to test this is by using a questionnaire to determine if there is an association in gender to violence, then to solve through my data i’ll be using a chi-squared-test for associated independence. One group will contain males and the other group will contain females. Both groups will be given questionnaires The explanatory variable is Gender and the response variable is the results and if it has an effect on the gender . The inference test/interval that i’ll be using is a 2-proportion z-test since there is two different genders and four grade levels.
Depending on the answer given to my question, i’ll compare the answer with the other group to determine the difference or similarities. There will be about 5 question all of them will contain scenario and with each scenario there will be 5 to 4 answer choices. I’ll be asking these questions to 10 students from each grade levels. ( 5 girls & 5 boys from freshmen to seniors ). I’ll then gather data from each question, meaning the answer from each student from the four grade levels both genders in more than one table containing the information, then comparing the data to see the different result from gender. I’m testing to see if males will answer the more violent approach to these answers, but I’m also testing to see if women's answering the question will take the non violent approach. Since the chi-squared test can work with one question, I’ll be doing it for all five question separately including the separate tables for each question.
Null hypothesis: Men are more prone to violence than women
Alternative hypothesis: Both men and women are prone to violence
